Building & Grounds
The Building and Grounds Division of the City of Sebring Public Works Department is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and overall upkeep of City-owned buildings and properties. This division plays a key role in supporting daily City operations by ensuring that municipal facilities and surrounding grounds are safe, functional, and well maintained for employees, residents, and visitors.
City-owned buildings maintained by the division include administrative offices, public safety facilities, public works structures, storage buildings, and other municipal properties throughout Sebring. Building and Grounds staff perform routine maintenance and repairs to preserve these facilities and extend their useful life. Responsibilities include addressing plumbing, electrical, HVAC, doors, windows, roofing, flooring, and general interior and exterior building needs. Preventative maintenance is emphasized to reduce unexpected failures, control long-term costs, and minimize disruptions to City services.
When larger or specialized repairs are required, the Building and Grounds Division coordinates with contractors and other City departments to ensure work is completed efficiently and in compliance with applicable standards and regulations. Staff also assist with preparing facilities for inspections, special projects, and operational needs as they arise.
In addition to building maintenance, the division is responsible for the care and appearance of grounds surrounding City facilities and properties. This includes mowing, trimming, edging, and maintaining landscaped areas, as well as keeping walkways, parking areas, and common spaces clean and safe. Proper grounds maintenance enhances the visual appearance of City properties, improves public safety, and reflects positively on the City of Sebring.
Building and Grounds staff also support storm preparedness and emergency response efforts. Prior to severe weather events, the division assists with securing facilities and City property. Following storms, staff help assess damage, clear debris, and complete necessary repairs to restore City operations as quickly as possible. This work is essential to maintaining continuity of services for the community during and after emergency situations.
The Building and Grounds Division works closely with other City departments to respond to service requests, facility needs, and special events. Whether setting up public spaces, addressing urgent maintenance concerns, or supporting long-term infrastructure goals, the division provides reliable service that supports the City’s mission.
Overall, the Building and Grounds Division is committed to maintaining clean, safe, and functional facilities for the City of Sebring. Through proactive maintenance and dedicated service, the division helps protect public assets, support City employees, and provide a positive environment for residents and visitors alike.
